State of Auckland part 1

It seems strange that you can still be considered late to work after spending an hour in traffic, or anytime commuting for that matter. Why doesn’t the work-day start from the time that we’ve left the house? Do we have a ceiling on the maximum hours worked in a week for salary based roles? Does a salary grant freedom to slavery? Have we signed away our time to a blank cheque? We all recieve compensation but how much unrecorded time do our overlords disregard? We remain the faceless, unrecognised masses, and we’ve achieved anonymity but lost our nature. We justify our passive stance and conformity to the cause by believing it’s for the “greater good”. “I am doing this for my family”, “this is for the betterment of society”, we tell ourselves, this rhetoric hiding the hopelessness you feel everyday as you sit on that train, in that car, or on that bus and think “what choice do I have?”.
